The sun’s back. Is your building ready?
As the thermometer climbs outside, buildings across the UK are quietly setting themselves up for another season of complaints, inefficiency and energy bills that nobody budgeted for. We’ve been digging into the data and wanted to share a few things worth knowing.
What we’re seeing
Temperature complaints don’t start in July. They start now.
One of the things we keep noticing – backed by post-occupancy data from real buildings – is how early thermal discomfort actually begins. Long before it feels like “summer,” occupants are already too warm in south-facing offices, while colleagues on the north side are still asking for the heating to be turned up. As the weather warms, we tend to overcool our buildings which is wasteful and expensive.
The problem isn’t usually the HVAC system itself. It’s that most systems are operating on fixed schedules and setpoints that were configured once and never revisited. The building has changed. The occupancy patterns have changed. The system hasn’t.
“We could cut nearly 8% of annual energy bills in the UK alone just by stopping the overcooling in buildings โ plus, we would improve occupant comfort significantly.”
A different approach
What if your people were the thermostat?
The Klimatise Cloud Thermostat takes a different approach to building control. Rather than relying solely on sensors or fixed temperature setpoints, it integrates occupant comfort feedback directly into how the system learns and adjusts.
It’s a software layer on top of whatever Building Management System (BMS) you already have. No new hardware. No major disruption. It plugs in, starts learning, and within weeks the building is running smarter: more comfortable for occupants, and meaningfully more efficient on energy.

Worth thinking about
Comfort and efficiency aren’t a trade-off
There’s a persistent assumption in building management that you have to choose: either you keep people comfortable, or you cut energy costs. We’d push back on that – and the data does too.
When buildings learn from their occupants, they stop overheating and overcooling. That’s where energy gets wasted. A smarter building is almost always a more comfortable one – because it’s responding to what’s actually happening inside, not what someone programmed in 2018.
For anyone navigating BREEAM, WELL, MEES regulations, or ESG reporting commitments, this is also one of the lowest-disruption ways to demonstrate meaningful action โ without a costly retrofit programme.
We know your inbox is full, so thanks for reading this far. If any of this resonates โ whether you’re dealing with summer overheating, trying to hit a sustainability target, or just tired of fielding the same temperature complaints โ we’d love to have a conversation.
