Our Climate Commitment

We work on decarbonising the built environment. That obliges us to take honest responsibility for our own footprint, however small.

The clearest expression of that is where we choose to work. Our team is based at Camden Collective, a meanwhile use workspace occupying a building that would otherwise sit vacant. The lowest carbon building is almost always the one that already exists, and putting empty stock back into use avoids the embodied carbon of new construction entirely. We would rather practise that than only advise on it.

Sharing a workspace also means heating, lighting, equipment and connectivity are used efficiently across many organisations, instead of a leased office running for a team of our size. Within that space we hold ourselves to everyday discipline: reusable cups and containers, lights and air conditioning switched off when a room is empty, and a shared expectation that reducing waste is everyone’s responsibility rather than nobody’s. Most of our commuting is walking distance. Where work takes us further, we keep travel to what genuinely requires being in the room, and choose rail over air wherever the journey allows.

We are early in this work and would rather be accurate than impressive. Our commitment for the year ahead is to measure before we promise:

1. Baseline our emissions. Calculate our Scope 1, 2 and 3 footprint, including our share of workspace energy, business travel, digital infrastructure and purchased goods and services.
2. Set reduction targets against that baseline, published on this page once the measurement is complete.
3. Review and report annually, including where we have fallen short.
